a creative valentine’s night in (with things to make) 💘
put the kettle on. clear the table. we’re staying in.
valentine’s doesn’t have to be loud, expensive, or outside. which is great because this rain is jussssttt… why not have a crafty night in, and celebrate love by making some jellycat photoholders!? 💕
now it’s no secret that i love a night in... but that doesn’t mean i don’t love celebrating. okay enough about love (mini sick). let’s talk making 🎨, and what a creative valentine’s night in might look like.

it’s very possible to celebrate while staying in and i’m here to show you how.
creativity needs a clear space and some atmos 🧘♀️
kettle on.
clear the table.
light a candle if you’ve got one.
you don’t need loads of space. just enough to sit down, get your hands messy, and spend a couple of hours making.
something easy to start
sometimes the hardest part of crafting is starting - so make the starting bit tiny.
tiny in this case is getting hold of a few photos to display. i love polaroids - such a fun way to capture snaps, and the white frames around the photos are great for writing personalised messages. but literally any photos will do.
If you can’t find any, why not scroll through your camera roll together and pick one that makes you laugh. print it (or promise to print it tomorrow)
heart jellycat photo holders ♥️🩷
i’ve always loved jellycats - their little faces make me smile 😊 and this project is all about capturing that same feeling, but in clay.
i used foam clay for these because it’s already dyed, which makes the whole project even faster and simpler - no painting required.

start by shaping the clay into a heart, making sure the bottom is nice and flat so it sits properly, before pressing a slit down the middle to hold the photo.

now time to make the little legs. roll out some white foam clay and form small balls for the feet. stick them together and attach them to the bottom of the hearts.

once the legs are on, gently press them down so they’re nice and flat and help the heart stand properly.

finish by adding the tiny eyes and mouth. take your time with this bit - the face really brings them to life.

and just like that… they’re done! hopefully you’ll agree; these really couldn’t be more beginner friendly. perfect for a fun creative valentine’s night in!
if you do make these little heart holders, i’d love to see 🩷
